Keep product records as the single source of truth
The moment product information lives in more than one place — a register, a spreadsheet, a notebook — it starts drifting apart. A single, centrally managed product record is what makes stock tracking reliable.
Stock visibility should come from billing, not a separate count
If inventory only updates when someone manually recounts stock, it will always lag reality. Inventory that updates as billing happens gives a much closer read on what's actually on hand.
Review inventory reports on a routine
Inventory reports are only useful if someone actually looks at them regularly. A short, routine review — weekly or monthly — is usually enough to catch issues early.
